5 Tips for Increasing your visibility in Google Search

Poor visibility in Google search means you're missing out on visitors and potential income.

You could have a fabulous website with fabulous products, but without putting time and thought into SEO, you're losing out on multiple opportunities!

Although there are a number of ways to improve SEO, I've listed five easy tips which you can start making to increase your traffic.

Let's start with an obvious one...

Keywords!

The right keywords are vital for driving traffic to your store. Make sure you use unique keywords that are relevant to your services. Use these in your page titles, meta descriptions and URLs. A well optimised meta title will help gain more clicks to your website.

Do your research and consider phrases someone may enter to find you online. For example, instead of just having 'Artist', you can have 'Irish Abstract Artist'.

Ensure you are also using the correct keywords on product descriptions, blog posts and information pages throughout your website.

Image filenames and ALT tags

Name your images accordingly. Instead of uploading an image as ‘IMG-2868.jpg’ change the filename to best describe what it is, such as ‘pink-bridesmaid-dress-weddingbliss.jpg’.

Using Alt Text on your images will also improve your SEO. Alt Text is for the benefit of visually impaired users who use screen readers when browsing and allows search engines to better crawl and rank your website.

Alt Text and image file naming is good practice. They can take time, so I recommend applying these from the beginning.

Internal Linking

Internal linking refers to a link on a page that points to another page in your website. It's important because it helps strengthen keywords and allows users to navigate easily through your website. It also tells search engines that the page is relevant for that keyword phrase.

Navigation

Website navigation are the main links that appear on your website and connect your pages. They're usually within the header and footer of your website and their primary purpose is to help users find stuff quickly and efficiently.

Search engine crawlers use your website navigation to discover your content and understand which pages are most important.

Blogging

Blogging is a fantastic way to grow your presence and make use of keywords. When your blog is updated regularly and the posts are relevant to your audience, it can make a huge difference to how your website performs in search engines.

Visitors can also share your posts which helps bring more traffic to your website.

When it comes to SEO, please remember that not everything will happen overnight. Google can take weeks to register new updates. Be patient, make regular updates to your website and remain dedicated.
